It's good to have a supportive mission president.

Dear Family,

How are you all doing? That's pretty cool that you had such a huge snowstorm.

Yes, I saw the Christmas devotional, and yes I saw the brother from our stake who played the clarinet. It was a good devotional.

This week, we made a booth for the Book of Mormon and set up about a block away from a high school right when it got out. We talked to about 50 people and gave out 10 copies of the book of mormon. I was glad that we were there - we touched people who were interested in the Gospel, who just didn't know where to find it. Some of the members in the stake, however, were not so positive. At the stake missionary correlation, the mission president was there, (I wasn't there, I just heard it from a couple sources) and some of the leaders of different wards were negative about it, but President Garner completely backed us up. He called me on Monday morning and told me to keep doing it. This is the way I see it: If they really got it - that this IS the church of Jesus Christ, this IS the everlasting gospel, that we need to reach everyone with the message, they'd be out preaching on the streets too instead of condemning it as "hurting our image." We know from the scriptures that popularity is overrated. It's good to have a supportive mission president.

Yesterday we set up our booth at 99 ranch. We had a couple new people sign up (and people have been trickling into our English class so that we're steadily growing). We, as usual (it's strange how often it happens), ran into a member there who bought us lunch. We also were "a sign" to some other members who walked in, who had just barely been talking with their Chinese friend about finding an English class for their friend's brother who was coming over from Taiwan that week; then they walked past our booth. That was pretty neat too.
Last night, Elder Moreno and I went tracting, and we got in our first door together. They are a recently married couple who speak Spanish, and we taught them a first lesson and have permission to return. We'll transition them to the Spanish missionaries Wednesday night.
We taught Mr. Han again. He is progressing. He keeps his commitments.

We went singing again on Friday night. Several contacts were made.

Not a lot of other things have happened this week. It has been pretty normal. I hope you are having a great Christmas time.

Love you all,
Elder Myers
